Being a first time mom of a then 2 year old, I was thrown off the norm just like many other parents during SG's lockdown of Covid-19's regulations, and began working from home. The struggle was real, having to cope with a needy but curious growing toddler, along with the demands of work and virtual meetings. Creating a conducive and nurturing environment at home for work and fuss free play respectively, became my goal as I believed the needs were similar amongst many young parents. Searching for countless ideas to engage a preschooler was challenging, as their attention span is about Age + 3mins tops (eg. an average 2yo gives you about 5mins max of attention span per activity). I therefore became earnest in finding play-based activities that could occupy my son long enough for me to have some time for other matters, and stumbled upon the miraculous world of sensory play. Sensory play stimulates a growing child to refine their fine motor skills, and can easily be accompanied with play and educational learning. It provides open-ended learning and experimentation, giving 'no one fixed way of doing something'. Through researching and exposing my child to sensory play, I saw the significance of introducing it at an early stage for developmental growth, and also saw how it attributed to great character building - such as patience and focus, along with good family bonding. Because of how we have 'been there and done that', we simply want to share the goodness, love and creativity with other like-minded parents - to help save time and occupy little ones easily through a meaningful way.
